Salio was founded in 2005 by experienced entrepreneurs and started its laboratory operations on June 2006 using its fully owned subsidiary Salio Nanotechnologies LTD.

The headquarters and labs are located in Ness Ziona, Israel, in the science park neighboring the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS).

Salio's technology is based on a seven years of basic research performed by Prof. Avigdor Schertz and Dr. Roie Yerushalmi from the WIS on Stimuli-Responsive Materials.

Salio has exclusively licensed the technology and patents from Yeda, the technology transfer arm of the WIS, which is also a shareholder in the company.

The company was able to recruit a strong scientific team and currently employs eight Ph.D. scientists in Israel and additional two overseas.
